Title

Terracotta statuette of a girl playing ball

Subject

Hellenistic sculpture

Description

"Draped, standing girl, holding a ball in her raised right hand."
"Medium: Terracotta
Dimensions H. 7 1/4 in. (18.3 cm)
Classification: Terracottas" From the museum website description

This sculpture was formed out of terracotta which is not an expensive product in art. This means that whomever created this product was lower socioeconomic to middle socioeconomic class. In addition, this sculpture depicts a girl playing with a ball. From this sculpture, this girl seems to be in poverty through her clothing and lack of jewelry. Also, I like this sculpture because of its simplicity that even when an individual is in poverty, the individual can still be happy with whatever the individual has.
