The End of the New Kingdom

Though many different Gods were worshipped depending on the beliefs and changes made by a reigning Pharoah, one thing that remained the same throughout the time of the New Kingdom and that was the religious and cultural importance of Karnak. In the article "The New Kingdom Begins in Egypt" it's written that "More buildings, including temples, chapels, and stelae (stone monuments with inscriptions) were erected in this period than in any other in ancient Egypt" (Steiger). By the end of the era, there was statues and temples of worship to such deities as "Amun, Khons, and Ptah, and the goddess Mut" (Steiger).
