Karnak
Clicking on the small globe on the map will show the location of Karnak. According to the article "Karnak," the construction is considered one of the "one of the most magnificent temple complexes ever constructed" (Steiger). Karnak, in Egyptian, means "the most select of places" (Steiger).
The entrance to the temple was built around 1500 BCE and consisted of pillars and The Great Hypostyle Hall, which covered a staggering 54, 000 square feet. The article further explains that religious worship of Ancient Egyptian Gods took place here, in a space considered quite sacred. Its expansion continued well into the era of the New Kingdom.
