Shard with Three Goddesses

Dublin Core

Title

Shard with Three Goddesses

Description

A shard of terracotta, most likely a small part of a bigger piece, has three goddesses carved on it as a design. All three are depicted as adorned with jewelry and crowns. It is synonymous with the statuette of the Three Graces in which they both accentuate three important deities. These similarities in art expressionism from reasonably different time periods and geographic location give modern day viewers a little insight into the religious and social norms of those time periods. Worshipping many Gods and Goddesses was considered normal and encouraged at times in both of these societies, and it in turn promoted human creativity and spirituality.
