Life of Siddhartha Gautama
Before Siddhartha Gautama was known as Buddha, he was a prince in a small state in the Northern India. His father was Suddhodana Gautama and his mother was Mayadevi. Siddhartha was born around 563 BCE in the city of Lumbini present day Nepal. There were many legends around when Siddhartha was born and it hard to distinguish facts from fictions. However, all the information I look up they all they said that "a saints and sage came down from a mountain to foretold Siddhartha destiny that he would either be greater ruler or a mendicant." The saints and sage foretold that "the prince will leave the world after seeing four signs: an old man, a sick man, a corpse and an anchorite" in which it did come true. As soon as the king heard the prophecy, he secludes Siddhartha inside the palace for 29 years of his life with knowing what the old, sick, and the poor look like. Siddhartha had a luxurious life until he became unsatisfied with it. At this point this is where Siddhartha give up everything, he had wealth and his family to find salvation for humanity suffering. After what he witnessed for the first time in life when he took a tour at neighboring town where the saints prophecy came true after 4 days of touring the town. His father tries his best to prevent the prophecy from true that he had the whole town where Siddhartha supposed to visit by cleaning up the whole town and prevent Siddhartha from seeing the sick, poor, and old people.
Once Siddhartha left his home to begin his journey to find salvation for humanity suffering, he began to study under Bhargava for several days. But under the teaching of Bhargava, Siddhartha was not satisfied with it because it was Siddhartha intention trying get into heaven but to help people relief of the suffering. So, Siddhartha journey continue to search for the answer or goal he was trying to achieve. It was not till later where Siddhartha stop at Bodh Gaya where he sat underneath the Bodhi tree for seven days of none stop mediation where some said he achieve enlightenment or nirvana. From that moment on he became too known as Buddha and spreads his teaching to his five disciples. In the present-day Bodh Gaya in India is one of the most important sites to visit for Buddhist pilgrimages.
