The map shows the original layout of the city and how the cathedral was indented to be the center piece of the city as people would have to go to it regularly and when not going to it they would still see it and be reminded of their faith and that God is always watching just like they could always see the cathedral.

This resource looked at the style of architecture that the cathedrals are designed in which is a main connecting point and shows that the designs influenced the area around the cathedrals. Wealthy people would move to the new areas our would have homes and buildings built in the gothic style to show their wealth and position as the churches were grand and usually looked different compared to other architecture in the city prior to the construction of the cathedrals.
