2019-04-17 – Office hours are cancelled today so that I may attend a teaching awards ceremony. I recognize the counter-productiveness of cancelling office hourse so that I can go to a teaching event and I apologies.

2019-03-4 My office hours for this morning are cancelled. I will be back in my office this afternoon from 2:05-2:55 pm.2019-02-28 This week’s readings are not available online. The readings are in a book called Bring Warm Clothes, which you can check out from Normandale Library’s reserve, which is right as you walk in the library. There are only 12 pages to read, so you should be able to copy them using the copier or read them and take notes on them. Two copies of the book are on 2-hour reserve at the Normandale.
The book is widely available in libraries. We are only reading 25 pages of a 30- page book, so I no longer ask students to purchase the textbook.
In addition, as of Thursday evening, the following Hennepin County Libraries had available copies of the book. You do not need a library card to use Hennepin County Library books in the library, though library cards are free.

2019-02-14 If the MN History Newspapers Hub does not come back online, you may use the historical NY Times, finding an article from 1857 or 1858. You can access the historical NY Times articles from our library web page. . Scroll down until you get to "New York Times – Historical (ProQuest) Authentication Required." Once you are in the database, you can limit the years to 1857-1858 on the left hand side. Search for "Dred Scott 1857" and you’ll get a variety of responses to the decision.
