However, people from Ethiopia were not the only ones "Ethiopians" represented. "Ethiopians" actually represented all Africans, or people with black skin. In the Hellenistic period, the minority they had previously held was growing. They were now athletes and entertainers, but they were also slaves. Slaves live in poverty, and there is no way to know if this was modeled after a slave or an athlete, but I can tell you that both Greeks and Non-Greeks were used as slaves and soldiers. This means that all of those people were living in poverty.</text>

This Gold ring was made out of solid gold and cabochon garnets. This piece of art relates to the term "Poverty" because if you had money or was a wealthy citizen this would be an item you would buy and then like to show off. Hence it was a pretty expensive piece of jewelry. This could've also been an item that could've been transferred in a family from generation to generation. A lot of the jewelry was passed down through family and generations at the time.</text>

Their clothing covers most of their bodies. They also have similar hair styles. Their hair is either short or styled up and away from their faces. It is hard to say if this is how they dressed for their everyday activities or if this is how they dressed for special occasions. These statues also show how similar design styles for statues were at the time. I would like to learn more about terracotta as an art form. For example, was terracotta mostly used for things like statues or for vases. or was it a popular in creating art or was it a less popular than other methods? </text>

<text>The statues I have chosen give in site into the period they are from as people might have sat for part of the creation or they were people the artist captured in their mind to recreate. The clothes offer the most detail but also have a big discrepancy as people that would have a statue main would be wearing their best while an artists adaptation of a person can be anything he or she wants. The two female seeming to be wearing similar clothing which is interesting as the terracotta statue is described as a child by THE MET so she would be older or wealthy to be wearing the same thing as women statue. The hair styles are similar which tells us that it was a popular way for women to style their hair at the time. Both statues are made out of terracotta, this indicated that it was easy to find/make, a cheap material and popularly used so these statues are likely not special and might be something that more than just the top class could afford. Another thing that can be observed is that the artist tried to hide the hands of the subjects this might indicate the skill and cost of the artist. The final thing that I should be noted is the lack of jewelry on ether subject, other photos and items in the different Hellenistic collections contains many types of jewelry so the subjects might not have been able to afford it or the artist did not want to create it or did not have the still to create it which is interesting considering statues are not the most affordable thing. </text>

Both the girl and woman appear to be in the same pose, facing to their right side and in the similar robe style clothing. At first I believe they were both women but reading into their descriptions, one is woman and another a girl. The woman is considered to be found in a private dwelling for religious purposes in a shrine. Often sculptures like this were in the same pose with grace-like faces that would bring liveliness. Then the girl is actually represented as child kind of. By then they were presenting kids as kids and not miniature adults, however you can still see she appears to be dressed like a woman. Both sculptures are from the origins of Athens where they originate from. If someone was to ask me why these matter, I would say because it's an early form of art that led the way for future art. You can see other sculptures with naked bodies which now a days is paintings or photographs of naked bodies. It's matters because it's true pure art.</text>
