<p><span style="font-weight:400;">The gold armbands tell the viewer that people of the time wore some very expensive items. These arm bands are pure gold and had to be held up by clothing which makes them a little impractical. When looking at this in regards to poverty it shows that some people did not have an issue with money as they could easily afford them. If a ruler or someone from a royle family wore these we can assume gold was for the rich and that normal people of the society did not get to wear these. </span></p></text>

Jewelry was important in the lives of people in Ancient Greece and was given as gifts during major events in people’s lives. By looking at the material that the jewelry was made from, it can show the differences in wealth between people. This ring was made primarily from bronze which was a cheaper material, and a tiny amount of gold. My assumption would be that the person who owned the ring may have been in a lower to middle class in society based on the materials in the ring.</text>

They may represent Pan, the Greek god who protected herdsmen and shepherds, or they may be associated with Opaon Melanthios, a Cypriot deity of rural life and fertility, who is known from inscriptions."

This object that was from the Cyprus society during the Hellenistic period tells us that the poor and homeless had their own gods or traditions to help them out through out their challenges. Specifically this object shows a reference to a Greek god named Pan who helped out the needy, shepherds and herdsmen. This object seems to be taken seriously since it would be found in Cypriot sanctuaries. Seems like many didn’t help out the poor, so the poor needed some type of help or someone to pray to. This object shows that the poor may have not been helped right away.

The two items I choose tell and show us how the sculptures were made in the Hellenistic period. They both show how they were dressed with robe like clothing and very loose clothing. From the readings we read this week it talked about how the sculptures were all dressed with loose clothing which proves my point in the pictures. This shows us how the people of this period had a strict dressing option for clothes and how they always choose to wear loose clothing. When you also look closely at the two objects you can see a lot of emotion which also tells us how the creators were so precise in making these sculptures. The big picture is that these objects were two big pieces in history because they show and tell us how they were made, we can learn so much from just looking at them. My learning objective is to understand a little more about how they made them so precisely.

It should be therefore be asserted that individual Africans were held at different social classes in the ancient Greek civilization. On the one hand, the Bronze statues displays a youth of African descent as very strong and able. The statue of the young boy displays strong core, back, and leg muscles, indicating that he is a hard worker. Additionally, the description states that the garment “is characteristic of artisans”, demonstrating that the boy was not in the lowest class. On the other hand, the Terracotta perfume jug shows a boy of similar age being in total submission. He is crouched about and rather skinny. Additionally, the nature of being on a perfume bottle was possibly a way that his masters could have mocked him. In conclusion, it is apparent that there is not one social class that Africans belonged to in the Ancient Greek civilization, and thus, it is quite possible they participated in all social class levels.

<text>The images/objects that I have chosen have conflicting views upon the status of Africans (or Ethiopians) in Ancient Greece.
