This jug demonstrates the poverty during the Hellenistic period because of its simplicity and dullness. There is nothing drawn on the jug and the material is cheap. This demonstrates poverty because other jugs/vases from the time period are all decorated and still look fancy, despite the fact that they are thousands of years old already. This shows the different classes in their society, even though it is just a jug; higher classes had fancy jugs while lower classes had plain, simple jugs.</text>

<p><span style="font-weight:400;">The gold armbands tell the viewer that people of the time wore some very expensive items. These arm bands are pure gold and had to be held up by clothing which makes them a little impractical. When looking at this in regards to poverty it shows that some people did not have an issue with money as they could easily afford them. If a ruler or someone from a royle family wore these we can assume gold was for the rich and that normal people of the society did not get to wear these. </span></p></text>

Jewelry was important in the lives of people in Ancient Greece and was given as gifts during major events in people’s lives. By looking at the material that the jewelry was made from, it can show the differences in wealth between people. This ring was made primarily from bronze which was a cheaper material, and a tiny amount of gold. My assumption would be that the person who owned the ring may have been in a lower to middle class in society based on the materials in the ring.</text>

This dish gives us an insight that no matter your wealth or social level, if you were skilled and had access to materials, you could make something as beautiful as this. However, skills such as those to make the dish were taught and handed down, so if your family did not possess these skills before, it would have been difficult to learn. This also would have been time consuming, so if you were a laborer or farmer, you would not have had time to do create it. </text>

These gold earrings help tell us something about poverty in the Hellenistic period. Due to the type and shape of earrings, these were most likely worn by the wealthy exclusively. These earrings could have been used to send with the owner in the after life or simply as a symbol of royalty. Wealth was not shared by all in the Roman and Greek communities, and that is shown by the differences of objects they wore compared to the wealthy. We see that these earrings are Greek, per the article we read, and we see what this symbolized in their culture.</text>

Images of this type first appeared in Cypriot sanctuaries during the Hellenistic period. They may represent Pan, the Greek god who protected herdsmen and shepherds, or they may be associated with Opaon Melanthios, a Cypriot deity of rural life and fertility, who is known from inscriptions."

This object that was from the Cyprus society during the Hellenistic period tells us that the poor and homeless had their own gods or traditions to help them out through out their challenges. Specifically this object shows a reference to a Greek god named Pan who helped out the needy, shepherds and herdsmen. This object seems to be taken seriously since it would be found in Cypriot sanctuaries. Seems like many didn’t help out the poor, so the poor needed some type of help or someone to pray to. This object shows that the poor may have not been helped right away.
