When looking at the pottery you can see humans fighting in a war. These people must have been in service to higher powers. This warrior class must have been taken from their families to fight wars that they may never return from. This will affect the income of the families these men were taken from. With wars the conquerors take away belongings of those they conquered which would assure that there would be a class with much less and most likely living in poverty. </text>

The two objects that I chose tell us about the everyday lives of two different classes to the extent that we still see these differences today. The Terracotta draped women tells us that this woman had access to elite clothing, as my research has come to the conclusion that himation was elite in the Hellenistic time period. On the other hand, the Bronze statuette of an African (known as Ethiopian) youth suggests that this boy worked many hours in the sun because of scars that are present throughout his body. In addition, this boy does not have much clothing on which suggests that he was not in the elite class. These two objects suggest that there was a stark difference between the lifestyles of these individuals. It seems that the elite class did not even care about the lower class and that the elites profited from the lower class’s hard work. I believe that this is similar to all periods in the past since individuals who have dark color on their skin are considered of a lower class which is present through these two objects. Therefore, if unfair classes were present in the past, why are these differences still present today? Although it is not as severe in today’s world, however, it is still present. My learning objective is that I would like to be able to express my thoughts in as few words as possible. </text>

<text>This image depicts a clay statue of a woman during the late Hellenistic period. This woman is dressed in nice and formal clothing and seems to be posing. This makes her seem empowered and comments on the rights that women gained during the Hellenistic period. There status was changing as public realms and societal norms fluctuate. This woman doesn’t seem to be royalty and she looks very well off with nice clothing and a cloak. This image doesn’t convey a sense of poverty in my eyes. If this woman is in the middle class that suggests that the majority of people in these civilizations had enough money to put food on the table and clothing on their back.

The two objects I chose was between the Archaic and Hellenistic period. I can by looking at the two objects the art style is different. The jar from the Archaic period the people is color in black and the background is brown. As for the bowl in the Hellenistic period its reverse where the people are left in brown and white while the background is cover in black. However, both objects show a great deal in heroic character or someone famous. From looking at the two objects it’s tells me that people during that time idolize strong and heroic people, because they displace warrior carrying weapons. I can see why artists choose to do that kind of drawing on the jar because, they were constantly in war with other region and people. Show the artist portrait that to inspired younger kids to be brave and defend their country and its people. I can only guess that the potteries were belonging to high class society because of the of the design and the detail that on it. From looking at all the art we were doing for class I want to learn more about the process the artist used to created those piece of art and does that transfer to the architecture of the monument they build.

The vase is made of terracotta, and terracotta is a cheap material to use in art. As a result, this shows that this vase probably belonged to someone in the middle-class or in poverty. This vase was used as a votive offering for religious purposes. This suggests that even though people in poverty were scarce of resources, they still went out of there way to sacrifice their resources in order to give praise and honor to their religion. This also indicates that religion was important to people in poverty.</text>

This sculpture was formed out of terracotta which is not an expensive product in art. This means that whomever created this product was lower socioeconomic to middle socioeconomic class. In addition, this sculpture depicts a girl playing with a ball. From this sculpture, this girl seems to be in poverty through her clothing and lack of jewelry. Also, I like this sculpture because of its simplicity that even when an individual is in poverty, the individual can still be happy with whatever the individual has. </text>

This sculpture is on trend with art in the Hellenistic Period given it depicts a woman dancing. In spite of not being able to see the dancers face, it gives a sense of sensuality and mystery. Because it was made from bronze, we can assume it is a less expensive small statute perhaps belonging to someone of middle class. I assume dancing was a form of entertainment that those of means could enjoy during this time period. </text>

This Gold ring was made out of solid gold and cabochon garnets. This piece of art relates to the term "Poverty" because if you had money or was a wealthy citizen this would be an item you would buy and then like to show off. Hence it was a pretty expensive piece of jewelry. This could've also been an item that could've been transferred in a family from generation to generation. A lot of the jewelry was passed down through family and generations at the time.</text>

</text>
