"Date: 3rd-2nd century B.C.
Medium: Terracotta, black oxidation patina
Dimensions :H. 6 1/4 in. (15.9 cm); W. 4 3/4 in. (12.1 cm); D. 1 7/8 in. (14.8 cm)" Sculpture of a standing Deity with a large head piece and necklace.
These sculptures present that early India was very religious and seemed to worship the same Female Deity, possibly Yakashi, throughout. They also show that different materials were used depending on the location and origin of the sculpture. The Standing Female Deity (from Northern India) was created using terracotta and black oxidation patina, whereas the Bust of a Female Deity (Yakashi?) (From India) was constructed with grey clay. I can conclude that the material that was used either showed significance or was the only material available at that time (some families only had access to certain material). With that being said, the wide range of materials proves that a wide range of people were depicting possibly the same entity, no matter the social class or experience of the artist themselves. The sculptures also seem to be around the same size, ranging from 16-9 cm. This shows that they were accustomed to only making smaller sculptures, or they didn’t have enough material to make larger sculptures. Or, another possibility is that large sculptures may not have survived. </text>

The two objects I chose was between the Archaic and Hellenistic period. I can by looking at the two objects the art style is different. The jar from the Archaic period the people is color in black and the background is brown. As for the bowl in the Hellenistic period its reverse where the people are left in brown and white while the background is cover in black. However, both objects show a great deal in heroic character or someone famous. From looking at the two objects it’s tells me that people during that time idolize strong and heroic people, because they displace warrior carrying weapons. I can see why artists choose to do that kind of drawing on the jar because, they were constantly in war with other region and people. Show the artist portrait that to inspired younger kids to be brave and defend their country and its people. I can only guess that the potteries were belonging to high class society because of the of the design and the detail that on it. From looking at all the art we were doing for class I want to learn more about the process the artist used to created those piece of art and does that transfer to the architecture of the monument they build.

This stand was made by a sophisticated method of metalwork known as the lost-wax technique. The desired image was sculpted in wax and surrounded with clay that hardened into a mold when baked. When the mold was fired, the wax was melted and "lost," leaving a negative space that corresponded to the wax image. Molten metal was then poured into the cavity to form a reproduction of the original wax model."</text>
