"Medium: Terracotta, black oxidation patina
Dimensions: H. 6 1/4 in. (15.9 cm); W. 4 3/4 in. (12.1 cm); D. 1 7/8 in. (14.8 cm)
Classification: Sculpture" as described from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The historical arts that I will be doing a comparison between are the “Standing Female Deity” and the “Bust of a Female Deity (Yakshi?)” in the Mauryan period. Both of these historical arts are related to each other as they are both depictions of a female deity. However, there is a difference in that the “Bust of a Female Deity (Yakshi?)” is a sculpture of the upper body while the “Standing Female Deity” is a sculpture of the whole body excluding the legs. Even though some parts of the body are missing for comparison, an assumption can be made from these two sculptures. The “Standing Female Deity” and the “Bust of a Female Deity (Yakshi?)” demonstrate that the people during the Mauryan period had matching ideas of what female deities look like. Both of the sculptures show that the people in the Mauryan period thought that female deities wore rosettes in their hair as both of the sculptures display rosettes in them. Furthermore, the people in the Mauryan period believed that female deities wore a small amount of clothing as displayed in the fact that the sculptures of the female deities had little amounts of clothing around their breast. Not to mention, the people of the Mauryan period thought that female deities wore necklaces as indicated from both of the sculptures. My learning objective would be to learn how to analyze images and see how they explain certain parts of history such as culture, clothing style, or diets.</text>
