This week you’ll be introduced to podcasts. Later this semester you will produce one. For now, I want you to listen to several examples (see your Sources for this week) and think about how the form of podcasts (all audio) shape what can and cannot be included. Your sources are short radio newscasts, which are the equivalent of podcasts when listened on the web.
- Which of the three radio pieces (Map. . . Nuts. . . or Moms) did you find most useful for understanding the past and why?
- What are two facts you remember from one of the podcast?
- What element of one of the podcasts would you try to replicate in your own podcast?
- What type of information is useful in a history podcast of under five minutes? What type of information is difficult to include in the same podcast?
