Academic Support Services

Tutoring and Writing Center– C2190 (2nd floor of College Services)

The Tutoring Center is staffed with Normandale peer tutors by
appointment, Monday-Thursday 8 AM –5PM and Friday 8 AM to 4:30PM.
They have tutors available in ESL, math, science, and accounting.
Tutors are also available through D2L by clicking on the resources tab
and logging into tutor.com. PASS (peer assisted study session) leaders
are available in select courses.

The Writing Center offers students peer tutoring ontheir writing
assignments.The Writing Center tutors help with all parts of the
writing process,including brainstorming, thesis development,
analysis, organization of ideas and paragraphs, citation,and sentence
structure.We are offering both online appointments and in-person
appointments.

Mental Health Services at Normandale

Mental Health Statement:As a studentyou may experience a range
of issues that can cause barriers to learning
, such as strained
relationships, increased anxiety, alcohol/drug problems, feeling down,
difficulty concentrating, and a lack of motivation. These mental
health concerns or stressful events may lead to diminished academic
performance or reduce your ability to participate in daily
activities.Normandale Counselors and a Licensed Psychologist are

Normandale offers several resources so students can feel at their

Campus Cupboard, 1^st^ floor of Activities, A1565

The Campus Cupboard offers students non-perishable food and hygiene
items, as well as fresh and frozen food and grab-and-go meals.

The SRC connects students to campus and community resources and services
to help them overcome barriers that interfere with their academic
success.SRC also offers free school supplies and safe sex supplies
year-round.

Bathrooms on campus

  • Bathrooms in the lowest level of the Kopp Student Center (near the
    Textbook Depot) have showers.

  • Gender-inclusive restrooms can be found in the following locations:
    A2541, C1009, C1099B, C2011, C3006, F1272, P0803, P0813, and P2813.

Public Safety, 1st floor of Fine Arts, F1250

Campus public safety officers provide safety, crime prevention, and
first aid assistance to students on campus. They also provide escort
services and jump start assistance.

  • Internet- If you have a student in your home who qualifies for free lunches, your household qualifies for a low-cost (\$10/month) internet connection from Comcast. See here for details.

  • Showers- The bathrooms in the lower-level of the Koop Student Center have showers, which can be used any time the Student Center is open.

  • Nursing Mothers There are lactation rooms in the basement of the the Library building, adjacent to the women’s bathroom, one in the Partnership building, and in the front College Services building. You can get a key card from the security department that will give you access to the room for the semester. Security is located across from the theater.

Hunger Solutions has an interactive map with locations of free dining sites, food shelves, farmers market, and more food resources and organizations.
