Learning Goals and Grading Criteria
Student will:
- Compare a georectified from 1757 with a current GIS map.
- Suggest what two comparisons (similarities or differences) between the original map and the modern GIS map tell us about the mapmakers understanding of the region studied.
Instructions
Write a paragraph, 3-5 sentences, comparing the [1757 Map] (https://davidrumsey.oldmapsonline.org/maps/e1957c40-ec4e-5c21-b27d-d82e6680e30b/view#) with the modern map. What did the mapmaker get right, what is wrong, and what is unclear? What could be the historical significance of the 1757 map features?
You may wish to use the "Overlay and Compare" tool in the bottom right hand of the map. It allows you to use a slider tool similar to the Juxtaposition Knightlab tool I showed you in class.
